The Live &Let Live

So here we are now in the Live
& Let Live and Benny Faulkner
plays the spoons and what's more
he plays them in his jacket pocket.

And sometimes he plays the bones,
but tonight he plays the spoons,
silver dessert spoons. Click clack
they go, two rattle snakes, two

metal eggs as full of emptiness as
they are of fullness. Click clack.
Sometimes he does a trick for us,
tonight he performs a twine trick.

He makes a knot, and doesn't.
The dead can do things
by undoing them; they can
walk among us and not be seen.
