CONOR O'REILLY

Conor O'Reilly

Conor O'Reilly is from Dunboyne in Co Meath but has spent most of the past nine years in South Korea. He is an emerging writer, overly bothered blogger, amateur photographer, doting dad, humble husband, internet addict, and bad speller. When not affected by these his English language students teach him how to slow down and be a better writer. In July of 2014, Conor will be returning to Dublin with his family where he hopes on continued success for his poetry and other writing.

The Channelsurfer

If I could stand up safely on a wave
and let it take me from here

over the pebbles and sand
and through the wind, balanced

with arms outstretched, feeling
the wind on all my skin,

scenery changing according
to the velocity, time, and place,

taken by the force of the tidal surge
to be turned and twisted

and soaked into a ball rumbling
in a wipe-out  conundrum

that I can do nothing about
but wait for it all to stop revolving,

until it is shallow enough for me
to stand surefootedly, then

I will know what it is like to have
everything, to lose it, and to find

all once more like a realistic
television experience of my own.
