Advice

Left alone, he might have decided on another tack,

but as it was he was stuck, halfway up the cliff-face,

unable to crawl up or creep down, the others

telling him to keep calm, not to worry, one of

the more experienced climbers would soon get to him,

and the giant glinting surface of the sea as he

turned his head meant nothing to him now,

even the landscape he had surveyed and thought

magnificent became inconsequential, everything

had been honed down to this tiny crag of rock,

pressing closer and closer as he clung on hard,

his wife advising him he needed to find a new

interest, a hobby, something that would get him out

of the house, her voice growing more and more surreal,

as his grip tightened and the planet turned its face.
